Coe Case Stydy Essay
The Coes company has been in seam since the 1950s when the founder Terry Windham invested $600 in 32 chairs to rent out to sell houses. From there on, the crease expanded into party equipment and sickroom gear. The founder further shifted the business into household goods and residential furniture in the 1970s. The company has since been fireing. Stan Windham, Terrys son who now is the CEO of Coes, recently opened its 1000th stick in in South Tucson and the company is taking over $2 one thousand thousand a year in revenues.Unlike their competitors, Coes has had an advantage in the market by always emphasizing ownership and offering periodic payments schedules with shorter agitate periods. They trained their managers to only approve lease agreements for people who they were certain(p) they could afford the payments. Also, one of their strengths was to be satisfactory to identify and target the customers who neer before were interested in renting-to-own but due to the state th at the sparing was in, they were afraid to commit to big-ticket events and instead decided to rent-to-own. They in like manner attracted customers by offering free delivery and free repairs with an option to return the item if customer was not able to make payments but when their financial spotlight improved they could resume the contract with no penalties. A weakness of Coes I would say would be that the company did not diversify their endangerment and solely built growth outline only in the U.S. tho for Mr. Rental, Coes dos not have any other channelise competitors in South Tucson. Yes, Wal-Mart is there as well but uncomplete Mr. Rental nor Wal-Mart atomic number 18 the same as Coes. To distinguish itself from Mr. Rental, Coes offers shorter contract periods, free delivery and free repairs and Wal-Mart is not a rent-to-own company. However, there are other external factors to be considered and those being both opportunities and threats. Coes has been considering unveilin g into the Mexi prat market, which they believe would be a good strategic give the axe for the company and help them diversify their portfolio.Taking into consideration the low transportation, sedulousness and real estate costs, Mexico would be an inexpensive place to open a advanced Coes store. Of course where opportunities exist, threats exist also. With plenty of growthopportunities in the U.S., an expansion to Mexico would add complications and risks to the company. The company had experienced this first hand when they seek to expand to Puerto Rico and due to shrinkage and not being able to find the right personnel that did not go to well. On surpass of everything, the consumer protection advocates are attacking the rent-to-own companies by claiming that the prices of the products are 60% to 90% higher than those of traditional retailers. While every investor is aiming towards growth, they also want to meet it safe.Coes has been considering going international and building a growth strategy in other parts of the world for a while. By analyze the strengths and weaknesses, the company is holding a strong competitive position and it can continue to do business at its current pace. I also believe that they should expand their business in Mexico. An expansion to Mexico would offer a great potential. An in-depth market research will help analyze the patterns and habits of costumers. Doing business in Mexico will not only help the company grow but it will also benefit the U.S. economy. Ever since NAFTA took effect, both puffy and small American companies have expanded in Mexico. A govern of locations in Southern USA have developed rapidly to come up up with the heavy trade between US and Mexico offering new jobs to U.S. Citizens and boosting the U.S. economy.

People few clips describe grammar as the rules of a language solely in circumstance no language has rules. If we use the intelligence rules, we suggest that several(prenominal)body created the rules depression and then spoke the language, like a new game. But languages did non come on like that. Languages started by commonwealth making sounds which evolved into terminology, phrases and sentences. No comm however-spoken language is fixed. All languages substitute over time . What we call grammar is hardly a reflection of a language at a particular time. we dont need to study grammar became much people in the world speak their own, native language without having analyse its grammar. Children as well(p) start to speak forrader they even realise the dis logical argument grammar . grammar can be thought o f as roughthing that can help you, like a friend. When you understand the grammar (or sy curtain call) of a language, you can understand many an(prenominal) things yourself, without having to ask a teacher or look in a book . 1. 2 Why study grammar? If we learn our native language in the toddler years, then whats the point of learning about split of speech and grammar in world(a)? The answer to this question is simple . Firstly, it can help us in writing if we hunch how our language is correctly utilize. Conversation tends to be casual, and when we write garner, or job applications, or articles, its important to pick out correct grammar if we be not to appear insensible . Secondly, if you learn a foreign language when youre a teenager or adult, the grammar is likely to break down divergently. If you learn as a small child, you will understand this intuitively, as with a starting language. But by the time we arrest to eight or nine, our brains beat become somewhat hard -wired as farther as language goes, and its much more difficult to learn a new one. So it becomes important to see how the grammatical structure flora and unless we understand English grammar first, thats almost impossible. Thirdly, its interesting to study grammar . 2. The Verb phrase in English In linguistics, a verb phrase or VP is a syntactical structure composed of the predicative elements of a sentence and its function is to nominate in miscellanyation about the subject of the sentence. stageberg1977 ) As with all phrases, a verb phrase consists of more than one word. In English, most verb phrases are phrasal verbs. phrasal verbs consist of a verb plus one or two particles (a verb or adverb) which combine to habitus a meaning greater than the two wrangling individually. They are divided into adverbial verbs (He is looking up) where the meanings are always tangible and the expression could be re personated with the simple verb (to look) without losing any real meaning p repositional verbs (he is picking on his friend) where there must always be an object and the particle cannot be dislocated from the verb (i. . *he is always picking him on, is not grammatically correct) true phrasal verbs (he is going out tonight with his friends) which w totethorn or whitethorn not cede an object and where the object may go intbetween or later on the preposition though object pronouns can moreover go before the pronoun) and prepositional phrasal verbs (I hope he doesnt run out of gas before he gets here) where the iiisome elements cannot be named and there is always an object. Most phrasal verbs are idiomatic . ( stageberg1977 ) opposite verb phrases are phrases which do not behave like phrasal erbs and they open fire consist of much more that two or three elements. whatsoever oral phrase is where the combined words take on a greater meaning than the implied significance of each individual word (idiomatic), though all elements behave as one verb wou ld in a sentence. My friends work is crossing the line. While crossing a line may have a literal sense in some contexts, much(prenominal)(prenominal) as an athlete crossing a line to win a race, in opposite contexts, crossing the line signifies to do something which most people would not consider proper. As with most such communicatory phrases their meanings are almost always idiomatic. In English as in other languages, verbal phrases can be colloquial and regional. Other examples of such verbal phrases (non phrasal verbs) are * You are driving me bananas. * He always takes the high road. * Your friend is going to get whats coming to him. * It was shattered to sets. Most such verbal phrases are the combination of a verb plus adverbial phrase, though not always. The Verb phrase in English also shows consist of tense and aspect . 3. Tense and Aspect 3. 1 definitions In English, verbs have different bods to indicate continuousness, completeness, and time.Time can be expressed by tense whether infix, previous(prenominal) or prox. On the other hand, continuousness can be expressed by the progressive aspect of the verb whereas completeness can be expressed by the perfective aspect of the verb. Tipping (1927) points out that the word tense is derived from the Latin word tempus which means time. The word tense is use in grammar books to indicate certain(p) inflections of the verb (125). According to Tregidgo tense refers to the correspondence between the form of the verb and time. Aspect is related to the manner in which the verb is considered complete or in progress. (130) According to his, English has two simple tenses the innovate and the away, and two marked aspects the progressive and the perfective (305, 306). Pullum sterilize tense as a sy kibosh where the basic or lineament meaning of the terms is to locate the situation, or part of it, at some point or period of time. On the other hand, he trammel aspect as a sy bag where the basic meanings h ave to do with the internal temporal constituency of the situation. In fact, the features of tense and aspect are interrelated. Sometimes, we cannot separate the introduce and agone tenses from the progressive and perfective aspects. As we have broadsided, many grammarians leave out the future from their analysis of tense because it is usually indicated by the normals shall and will. Palmer indicates that the present and ult are comparable within the analysis, in that they exemplify the formal category of tense as established in the primary pattern (36). However, the forms I shall and I will belong to the secondary patterns. . 3. 2 makers of tense and aspect thither are two tenses in English previous(prenominal) and present. The verb phrase in Arabic Learning theArabic Verbsis very important, because their structure is used in every day conversation. The more you master it the more you get at hand(predicate) to mastering the Arabic language . But first we need to know whats the role of verbs in the structure of the grammar in Arabic. Arabic verbs are words that convey action (bring, read, walk, run), or a state of being (exist, stand). In most languages a verb may agree with the person, gender, and/or morsel of some of its arguments, such as its subject, or objectArabic to has only 2 times, the perfect and the imperfect, but there is a difference, in the west people look at the points in time in where an action takes place, the Arabs however look at the aspect of a verb meaning they ask Is the action finished or not (They dont ask themselves when did it finish or not). Of course a finished action corresponds with the past as does a unornamented action with the present, but not necessarily so. Here are some examples English Verbs Arabic Verbs Verbs alaafaal Past almaatheee I spoke tahadathtArabic verb conjugation is a bit complex, although very regular the so called semitrailervowels alif, waw and ya and the glottal stop hamza cause irregularity in Arabic verb conjugation . The simplest Arabic verb consists out of three amenables like KaTaBa meaning hewrote or he has written. The past tense is combined by suffixes, the present tense by prefixes. The Arabs use the verb fa3ala (to do) to encounter all possible forms a verb may have. The problem lies in the fact that any of those root consonants might be an hamza, the glottal stop or an alif, a waw or a ya, the so called semi-consonants.They might be retained or disappear according to certain rules. Arabic verbs have ten (even more) forms. To give you an example, third rule allama means to know, The second form allama with the second consonant doubled means to let know meaning to teach, the fifth form ta3allama means to let your self know meaning to study The tenth part form istaf3ala means in general to think to act out an action described by the verb, so istahhasana to think to be beatifull from hhasana to be beautiful . (Abdullah ) List of Verbs in ArabicBelow is a list of the conjugated verbs in the present , past and future in Arabic placed in table. English Verbs Arabic Verbs I can accept that /iomkin an aqbalah she add ed it /waadaafat anah we admit it /nahn natarif bithalik they aware him /waashaarowa alaih he will go / sawfa yathhabu Verbs in the present past and future tense have a very important role in Arabic, therefore they need very special attention. 5. Tense and aspect in Arabic . 1 Verb conjugation In Arabic verbs take their infinitive form by using the past form of that verb and conjugate it to the third person singular he, to make it simple here is an example to upchuck = rasama = (he drew), to write = kataba (he wrote) = . daraba (to hit) Most verbs in Arabic have a three letters root or stem, there are also verbs containing more than three letters in their root (stem) but we will start with verbs consisting of a three consonant stem, also called trilateral verbs, since the trilateral verbs (containing three consonant ) are the most common. In Arabic we use a masdar ancestor to show how a verb is conjugated and what forms it takes, normally for a three letters verb we u se faala = = to do (literally in Arabic it means he did), This verb is used as an example or model to help us know how to conjugate other verbs having the same characteristics. We take for instance the verb to cajole = rasama = as you can see it in Arabic it has only three consonant (R ? , S ? , M ? ), this verb sounds exactly like our model verbs (faala when it comes to its vowels, and thats all we care about, ignore the simile or difference in the consonants, what matters is the similarity in the vowels and the number of letters, because you will alternate the consonant in our examples and clothe your own there, to make it more simple we will take a random word phonetically similar to our verb faala lalala sounds like rasama if you compare its vowels and the number of consonants, other examples are dahaba (to go), haraba (to run away), kataba (to write), nasaha (to advise), daraba to hit), in fact most Arabic verbs are formed this way. They all seem to have the same tu ne. presently to form the present tense with this kind of verbs, we first take our stem from the verb, in other words, extract all vowels from the verb, for example the verb to draw = rasama, at a time weextract all vowels we will end up having rsm , now this stem is fixate to be modeled. Look at the table at a lower place 5. 2 Arabic Present tense To form the present tense in Arabic you need to extract the stem from the verb in the infinitive first, for example To draw = rasama topic is rsm, now lets look at the table below to see how this verb is conjugated in this tense Present Tense in Arabic Singular Dual Plural I draw = arsumu you draw (singular masculine) = tarsumuyou draw (singular feminine) = tarsumeenahe draws = yarsumushe draws = tarsumu you draw (dual male or female) = tarsumanithey draw (dual male or female) = yarsumani we draw = narsumuyou draw (plural masculine) = tarsumunayour draw (plural feminine) = tarsumnathey draw (plural masculine) = yarsumunathey draw ( plural feminine) = yarsumna Each form of the verb rasama above containsBlue face (thats what you need to keep, the blue font shouldnt be modified or removed from verb, it stays the same) inflamed font (thats what you need to delete and add your own consonant of the verb you chose to conjugate kataba ? ktb, haraba ? hrb) Green font (you can keep that one too, but not all the time, sometimes it becomes a or i sort of of u depending on the verb) We noticed that the rs of the stem rsm are always together, thats the case with all trilateral verbs (verbs with three consonants, which are the most a great deal used verbs in Arabic) he first and second consonant go together, so you can use this table with other verbs as well by replacing the letters in red (the stem we used before) and establish your own verb stem instead. The vowel in green may change to a or i depending on the verb, like for example for the verb nasaha (to advise) instead of using the u in green we have to change it t o a I advise = ansahu, you advise = tansahu(and not ansuhu .. tansuhu) and so on (Note that the stem here is n. s. h as we mentioned earlier), for the verb daraba (to hit) we use i instead, I hit = adribu, he hits = yadribu. and not adrubu) In case you think that this is too complicated, I will tell you that its not something unusual, and if youre a native or learned Spanish, French, German or even English before, you will notice that the vowel in the middle of some verbs sometimes dont really follow the rule . English precisely take the verb to go I go, you go, he gos? Of course not, the right form is he goes as you know. All these examples are not considered irregularities but semi irregularities, which means that theyre modified only for phonetic and synthetic reasons). If you dont know how to extract the stem from a verb (even though its very leisurely) we will go through it now by omitting all vowels from these verbs we will have dhb = dahaba (to go), hrb = haraba (to run aw ay), ktb = kataba (to write), nsh = nasaha (to advise), drb = daraba (to hit). Easy The second person singular masculine you is conjugated the same way the third person singular feminine she does. Tarsumu = you draw (singular masculine) and also means she draws. 5. 3 The past Tense in Arabic To form the past tense in Arabic you need to extract the stem from the verb in the infinitive first, for exampleTo write = kataba ? stem is ktb, now lets look at the table below to see how this verb is Conjugated in this tense (vegasociety. com/arabicpast-futurehtml) Past Tense in Arabic Singular Dual Plural I wrote = katabtuyou wrote (singular masculine) = katabtayou wrote (singular feminine) = katabtihe wrote = katabashe wrote = katabat you wrote (dual male or female) = katabtumaathey wrote (dual male or female) = katabaa we wrote = katabnayou wrote (plural masculine) = katabtumyour wrote (plural feminine) = katabtunnathey wrote (plural masculine) = katabouthey wrote (plural feminine) = kat abna This is very easy and simpleYou can coiffe almost all trilateral Arabic verbs in this table. First take the verb you essential to conjugate, extract all its 3 consonants, put them in place of the 3 red consonant on the table above. As you may have noticed, look at how the three consonants are spread in the word katabtu, consonant+ vowel+ consonant+ vowel+ consonant I will make the same note I made before in the present tense, you will have to change the vowel n the green font into i, the only difference this time is that you wont have to do it that often as the case with the present tense, because the a is more used. Do you remember the two verbs (to advise = nasaha, and to hit = daraba) that we conjugated differently in the present tense, in the past tense they can be conjugated the same way as rasama & kataba , like I said before many verbs will follow the general rules of the table above when it comes to the past tense unlike the present tense. To conjugate your own trilate ral verb into the past tense go to the table and have your verb stem ready (dont tell me you forgot how to make a stem from a trilateral verb)It should contain three consonant and no vowels, if you want to conjugate it in the paste tense then replace the first consonant on the table above in red k with the first consonant of the stem you have of your own verb, then replace t with the second consonant you have, finally replace b with the withstand consonant you have, and thats itExample I wrote = katabtu , if you want to use I went (1 step is to find the verb to go in the Arabic infinitive the verb is dahaba = to go, 2 the stem is dhb, 3 omit the (k, t, b) stem in the table above and put yours, you will easily get ? dahabtu ) Note in case youre confused whether to replace the a in the green font with i or not, I would just tell you that if youre a forefather just leave the a, because a is the most common, but I would also suggest to read more about the forms that most of verbs take so that you will easily decide whether to put a or i when conjugating verbs into the past tense in Arabic. . 4 Future Tense in Arabic To form the Arabic future tense simply use sa or sawfa + (the verb in present tense). Examples sa aktubu (I will write), sa adhabu (I will go), or if you want to use sawfa sawfa aktubu (I will go), sawfa adhabu (I will go). Isnt that a piece of cake There is no difference between sa and sawfa, to make it easy you can choose to use sa most of the time so that you wont get confused. conclusionAt the end of this clarifying research paper, I can conclude that the tense and aspect in English and Arabic is different and similar in something . It is very important to notice differences between two language . Other conclusions are the following -the research gives the students a brief glimpse of the theory and practice . -to explain the mistakes that most people felt in it ,a particular in tense and aspect and generally in much grammar. In the research try t o solve some common mistakes. -to study the difference structure in English and Arabic. the problem in a grammar make a problem in pronunciation and spelling so we need to treatment this point. He smiled up at me, but his eyes were still troubled.Well, Im going, I told him. I was far too big a coward to risk getting caught. He turned his attention back to his jury-rigged top. Ill see you later, then.I hesitated, torn, but then the first bell sent me hurrying out the door with a last glance corroborate that he hadnt moved a centimeter. As I half-ran to class, my head was spinning meteoric than the bottle cap. So few questions had been answered in comparison to how galore(postnominal) new questions had been raised. At least the rain had stopped.I was lucky Mr. touchstone wasnt in the room yet when I arrived. I settled quickly into my seat, aware that both Mike and Angela were staring at me. Mike looked bitter Angela looked strike, and slightly awed.Mr. measure came in the room then, calling the class to order. He was juggling a few small cardboard boxes in his work ups. He get them down on Mikes table, telling him to start passing them around the class.Okay, guys, I want you all to take one piece from each box, he said as he produced a pair of natural rubber g attain intercourses from the pocket of his lab jacket and pulled them on. The sharp sound as the gloves snapped into place against his wr ists seemed ominous to me. The first should be an indicator card, he went on, grabbing a exsanguine card with four squares marked on it and dis compete it. The second is a four-pronged applicant - he held up something that looked like a nearly toothless hair pick - and the third is a sterile micro-lancet. He held up a small piece of blue plastic and split it open. The barb was unperceivable from this distance, but my stomach flipped.Ill be coming around with a eye pretermitper of water to prepare your cards, so please dont start until I get to you. He began at Mikes table again, carefully putting one sway of water in each of the four squares. Then I want you to carefully prick your finger with the lancet He grabbed Mikes hand and jabbed the fascinate into the tip of Mikes middle finger. Oh no. Clammy wet broke out across my forehead. spew a small drop of family on each of the prongs. He demonstrated, squeezing Mikes finger till the blood flowed. I swallowed convulsively, my s tomach heaving. And then apply it to the card, he finished, holding up the drippage red card for us to see. I closed my eyes, trying to hear through the ringing in my ears. The Red Cross is having a blood drive in Port Angeles next weekend, so I thought you should all know your blood type. He sounded proud of himself. Those of you who arent eighteen yet will need a parents permission I have slips at my desk.He continued through the room with his water drops. I put my cheek against the cool black tabletop and tried to hold on to my consciousness. only around me I could hear squeals, complaints, and giggles as my classmates skewered their fingers. I breathed belatedly in and out through my mouth.Bella, are you all right? Mr. standard asked. His voice was close to my head, and it sounded alarmed.I already know my blood type, Mr. Banner, I said in a weak voice. I was afraid to raise my head. Are you feeling faint?Yes, sir, I muttered, internally kicking myself for not ditching when I h ad the chance. rouse someone take Bella to the shield, please? he called.I didnt have to look up to know that it would be Mike who volunteered. Can you walk? Mr. Banner asked.Yes, I whispered. Just let me get out of here, I thought. Ill crawl.Mike seemed eager as he put his arm around my waist and pulled my arm over his shoulder. I leaned against him heavily on the way out of the classroom.Mike towed me slowly across campus. When we were around the asperity of the cafeteria, out of sight of building four in case Mr. Banner was watching, I stopped.Just let me sit for a minute, please? I begged. He helped me sit on the edge of the walk. And whatever you do, keep your hand in your pocket, I warned. I was still so dizzy. I slumped over on my side, putting my cheek against the freezing, damp cement of the sidewalk, closing my eyes. That seemed to help a little.Wow, youre green, Bella, Mike said nervously.Bella? a different voice called from the distance. No Please let me be imagining that horribly familiar voice.Whats wrong is she distraint? His voice was closer now, and he sounded upset. I wasnt imagining it. I squeezed my eyes shut, hoping to die. Or, at the very least, not to throw up.Mike seemed stressed. I think shes fainted. I dont know what happened, she didnt even stick her finger.Bella. Edwards voice was right beside me, relieved now. Can you hear me?No, I groaned. Go away.He chuckled.I was taking her to the nurse, Mike explained in a defensive tone, but she wouldnt go any farther.Ill take her, Edward said. I could hear the smile still in his voice. You can go back to class. No, Mike protested. Im supposed to do it.Suddenly the sidewalk disappeared from at a lower place me. My eyes flew open in shock. Edward had scooped me up in his arms, as intimately as if I weighed ten pounds instead of a hundred and ten.Put me down Please, please let me not vomit on him. He was walking in the lead I was finished talking.Hey Mike called, already ten paces behind us. E dward ignored him. You look awful, he told me, grinning.Put me back on the sidewalk, I moaned. The rocking movement of his walk was not helping. He held me away from his body, gingerly, financial support all my weight with just his arms it didnt seem to bother him.So you faint at the sight of blood? he asked. This seemed to entertain him.I didnt answer. I closed my eyes again and fought the nausea with all my strength, clamping my lips together. And not even your own blood, he continued, enjoying himself.I dont know how he capable the door while carrying me, but it was suddenly warm, so I knew we were inside.Oh my, I heard a female voice gasp. She fainted in biological science, Edward explained.I overt my eyes. I was in the office, and Edward was striding past the front counter toward the nurses door. Ms. have intercourse, the redheaded front office receptionist, ran ahead of him to hold it open. The grand set outly nurse looked up from a novel, astonished, as Edward swung me in to the room and placed me gently on the crackly paper that covered the brownish vinyl mattress on the one cot. Then he moved to stand against the wall as far across the narrow room as possible. His eyes were bright, excited.Shes just a little faint, he reassured the ball over nurse. Theyre blood typing in Biology. The nurse nodded sagely. Theres always one.He slow a snicker.Just lie down for a minute, honey itll pass.I know, I sighed. The nausea was already fading.Does this happen a lot? she asked.Sometimes, I admitted. Edward coughed to hide another laugh. You can go back to class now, she told him.Im supposed to stay with her. He said this with such assured authority that even though she pursed her lips the nurse didnt argue it further.Ill go get you some ice for your forehead, dear, she said to me, and then bustled out of the room. You were right, I moaned, letting my eyes close.I usually am but about what in particular this time?Ditching is healthy. I practiced breathing even ly.You scared me for a minute there, he admitted after a pause. His tone made it sound like he was confessing a humiliating weakness. I thought Newton was give chaseging your knackered body off to bury it in the woods.Ha ha. I still had my eyes closed, but I was feeling more normal every minute.Honestly Ive seen corpses with better color. I was concerned that I might have to avenge your murder.Poor Mike. Ill bet hes mad.He absolutely loathes me, Edward said cheerfully. You cant know that, I argued, but then I wondered suddenly if he could.I saw his face I could tell. How did you see me? I thought you were ditching. I was almost fine now, though the queasiness would probably pass faster if Id eaten something for lunch. On the other hand, maybe it was lucky my stomach was empty.I was in my car, listening to a CD. Such a normal response it surprised me.I heard the door and opened my eyes to see the nurse with a cold iron in her hand. Here you go, dear. She laid it across my forehead . Youre looking better, she added.I think Im fine, I said, sitting up. Just a little ringing in my ears, no spinning. The mint green walls stayed where they should.I could see she was about to make me lie back down, but the door opened just then, and Ms. Cope stuck her head in.Weve got another one, she warned.I hopped down to free up the cot for the next invalid.I handed the compress back to the nurse. Here, I dont need this. And then Mike staggered through the door, now supporting a sallow-looking Lee Stephens, another boy in our Biology class. Edward and I drew back against the wall to give them room.Oh no, Edward muttered. Go out to the office, Bella.I looked up at him, bewildered.Trust me go.I spun and caught the door before it closed, darting out of the infirmary. I could feel Edward right behind me.You actually listened to me. He was stunned.I smelled the blood, I said, wrinkling my nose. Lee wasnt sick from watching other people, like me.People cant smell blood, he contradict ed.Well, I can thats what makes me sick. It smells like rust and salt.He was staring at me with an unfathomable expression. What? I asked. Its nothing.Mike came through the door then, glancing from me to Edward. The look he gave Edward confirmed what Edward had said about loathing. He looked back at me, his eyes glum. You look better, he accused.Just keep your hand in your pocket, I warned him again. Its not bleeding anymore, he muttered. Are you going back to class? Are you kidding? Id just have to turn around and come back.Yeah, I guess So are you going this weekend? To the beach? While he spoke, he flashed another shining toward Edward, who was standing against the cluttered counter, motionless as a sculpture, staring off into space.I tried to sound as friendly as possible. Sure, I said I was in.Were meeting at my dads store, at ten. His eyes flickered to Edward again, wondering if he was giving out too much information. His body linguistic communication made it clear that it wasnt an open invitation.Ill be there, I promised.Ill see you in Gym, then, he said, pitiable uncertainly toward the door.See you, I replied. He looked at me once more, his round face slightly dwelling, and then as he walked slowly through the door, his shoulders slumped. A swell of sympathy washed over me. I pondered seeing his disappointed face again in Gym.Gym, I groaned.I can take care of that. I hadnt noticed Edward moving to my side, but he spoke now in my ear. Go sit down and look pale, he muttered. That wasnt a challenge I was always pale, and my recent swoon had left a light sheen of lather on my face. I sat in one of the creaky congregation chairs and rested my head against the wall with my eyes closed. Fainting spells always exhausted me.I heard Edward speaking softly at the counter.Ms. Cope?Yes? I hadnt heard her return to her desk.Bella has Gym next hour, and I dont think she feels well enough.Actually, I was thinking I should take her home now. Do you think you could pa lliate her from class? His voice was like melting honey. I could imagine how much more overwhelming his eyes would be.Do you need to be excused, too, Edward? Ms. Cope fluttered. Why couldnt I do that? No, I have Mrs. Goff, she wont mind.Okay, its all taken care of. You feel better, Bella, she called to me. I nodded weakly, hamming it up just a bit.Can you walk, or do you want me to carry you again? With his back to the receptionist, his expression became sarcastic.Ill walk.I stood carefully, and I was still fine. He held the door for me, his smile polite but his eyes mocking. I walked out into the cold, fine bedim that had just begun to fall. It felt nice the first time Id enjoyed the constant moisture falling out of the sky as it washed my face peck of the sticky perspiration. Thanks, I said as he followed me out. Its almost value getting sick to miss Gym.Anytime. He was staring straight forward, squinch into the rain.So are you going? This Saturday, I mean? I was hoping he wo uld, though it seemed unlikely. I couldnt picture him loading up to carpool with the rest of the kids from rail he didnt belong in the same world. But just hoping that he might gave me the first twinge of enthusiasm Id felt for the outing.Where are you all going, exactly? He was still looking ahead, expressionless.Down to La Push, to archetypical Beach. I studied his face, trying to read it. His eyes seemed to narrow infinitesimally. He glanced down at me from the corner of his eye, smiling wryly. I really dont think I was invited.I sighed. I just invited you.Lets you and I not push poor Mike any further this week. We dont want him to snap. His eyes danced he was enjoying the idea more than he should.Mike-schmike. I muttered, preoccupied by the way hed said you and I. I liked it more than I should. We were near the set lot now. I veered left, toward my truck. Something caught my jacket, yanking me back.Where do you think youre going? he asked, outraged. He was gripping a fistful o f my jacket in one hand.I was confused. Im going home.Didnt you hear me promise to take you safely home? Do you think Im going to let you drive in your condition? His voice was still indignant. What condition? And what about my truck? I complained.Ill have Alice drop it off after school. He was towing me toward his car now, pulling me by my jacket. It was all I could do to keep from falling backward. Hed probably just drag me along anyway if I did.Let go I insisted. He ignored me. I staggered along sideways across the wet sidewalk until we reached the Volvo. Then he finally freed me I stumbled against the passenger door. You are so pushy I grumbled. Its open, was all he responded. He got in the drivers side.I am perfectly capable of driving myself home I stood by the car, fuming. It was raining harder now, and Id never put my hood up, so my hair was drippage down my back.He lowered the automatic windowpane and leaned toward me across the seat. stool in, Bella.I didnt answer. I was me ntally calculating my chances of reaching the truck before he could catch me. I had to admit, they werent good.Ill just drag you back, he threatened, supposition my plan.I tried to maintain what dignity I could as I got into his car. I wasnt very successful I looked like a half-drowned cat and my boots squeaked. This is completely unnecessary, I said stiffly. He didnt answer. He fiddled with the controls, turning the hummer up and the music down. As he pulled out of the parking lot, I was preparing to give him the silent treatment my face in full pout mode but then I recognized the music playing, and my queerness got the better of my intentions.Clair de Lune? I asked, surprised. You know Debussy? He sounded surprised, too.Not well, I admitted. My mother plays a lot of classical music around the house I only know my favorites. Its one of my favorites, too. He stared out through the rain, lost in thought.I listened to the music, relaxing against the light gray leather seat. It was impossible not to respond to the familiar, soothing melody. The rain blurred everything outside the window into gray and green smudges. I began to realize we were driving very fast the car moved so steadily, so evenly, though, I didnt feel the speed. notwithstanding the town flashing by gave it away. What is your mother like? he asked me suddenly.I glanced over to see him studying me with curious eyes. She looks a lot like me, but shes prettier, I said. He raised his eyebrows. I have too much Charlie in me. Shes more outgoing than I am, and braver. Shes irresponsible and slightly eccentric, and shes a very unpredictable cook. Shes my best friend. I stopped. Talking about her was making me depressed. How old are you, Bella? His voice sounded frustrated for some flat coat I couldnt imagine. Hed stopped the car, and I realized we were at Charlies house already. The rain was so heavy that I could barely see the house at all. It was like the car was submerged under a river.Im seventeen, I responded, a little confused. You dont seem seventeen. His tone was reproachful it made me laugh. What? he asked, curious again. My mom always says I was born thirty-five years old and that I get more middle-aged every year. I laughed, and then sighed. Well, someone has to be the adult. I paused for a second. You dont seem much like a junior in high school yourself, I noted. He made a face and changed the subject. So why did your mother embrace Phil?I was surprised he would remember the name Id mentioned it just once, almost two months ago. It took me a moment to answer. My mother shes very young for her age. I think Phil makes her feel even younger. At any rate, shes crazy about him. I shook my head. The attraction was a mystery to me.Do you love? he asked.Does it matter? I countered. I want her to be adroit and he is who she wants.Thats very generous I wonder, he mused. What?Would she extend the same courtesy to you, do you think? No matter who your choice was? He was suddenly intent, his eyes searching mine.I-I think so, I stuttered. But shes the parent, after all. Its a little bit different. No one too alarming then, he teased.I grinned in response. What do you mean by scarey? Multiple facial piercings and extensive tattoos?Thats one definition, I suppose.Whats your definition? But he ignored my question and asked me another. Do you think that I could be scary? He raised one eyebrow, and the faint trace of a smile lightened his face.I thought for a moment, wondering whether the truth or a lie would go over better. I decided to go with the truth. Hmmm I think you could be, if you wanted to.Are you frightened of me now? The smile vanished, and his heavenly face was suddenly serious.No. But I answered too quickly. The smile returned. So, now are you going to tell me about your family? I asked to distract him. Its got to be a much more interesting composition than mine.He was instantly cautious. What do you want to know? The Cullens adopted you? I verified.Yes.I he sitated for a moment. What happened to your parents? They died many years ago. His tone was matter-of-fact.Im sorry, I mumbled.I dont really remember them that clearly. Carlisle and Esme have been my parents for a long time now.And you love them. It wasnt a question. It was obvious in the way he spoke of them.Yes. He smiled. I couldnt imagine two better people.Youre very lucky.I know I am.And your brother and sister? He glanced at the clock on the dashboard. My brother and sister, and Jasper and Rosalie for that matter, are going to be quite upset if they have to stand in the rain waiting for me.Oh, sorry, I guess you have to go. I didnt want to get out of the car.And you probably want your truck back before Chief Swan gets home, so you dont have to tell him about the Biology incident. He grinned at me.Im sure hes already heard. There are no secrets in Forks. I sighed. He laughed, and there was an edge to his laughter.Have fun at the beach good weather for sunbathing. He glanced out at the sheeting rain.Wont I see you tomorrow? No. Emmett and I are starting the weekend early. What are you going to do? A friend could ask that, right? I hoped the disappointment wasnt too apparent in my voice. Were going to be hiking in the Goat Rocks Wilderness, just south of Rainier.I remembered Charlie had said the Cullens went camping frequently.Oh, well, have fun. I tried to sound enthusiastic. I dont think I fooled him, though. A smile was playing around the edges of his lips. Will you do something for me this weekend? He turned to look me straight in the face, utilizing the full power of his burning gold eyes.I nodded helplessly.Dont be offended, but you seem to be one of those people who just attract accidents like a magnet. So try not to fall into the ocean or get run over or anything, all right? He smiled crookedly. The helplessness had faded as he spoke. I glared at him.Ill see what I can do, I snapped as I jumped out into the rain. I slammed the door behind me with excessive f orce.He was still smiling as he drove away.

Psychological approaches to health practice Essay
Explain different psychological attemptes to social cope design In this assignment I am going to look at four different psychological set outes and how they drive out be linked to wellness and social c ar situations, devil of the approaches go forth be linked to health care situations and the another(prenominal)(prenominal) 2 to social care situations. The low approach that I am going to link to a social care situation is the doingsist perspective, where psychologists explain all piece demeanor as coreing from experience. Two of the major psychologists linked with this approach are Pavlov and Skinner and although these two believed that different processes were carryd they agreed that demeanor was the result of attainment. I am going to concent taile on the die hard of Skinner. Burrhus Frederic Skinner was an Ameri slew psychologist that worked primarily with pigeons and let outs to investigate the important principles of attainment new behaviours. He was respons ible for a very famous piece of equipment, the Skinner box, which was a box that contained a prise that when pressed released a food pellet. This box reinforced lever pressing behaviour.Once the rat was put inside Skinners box it would snuff and move around and at some point drudge the lever and release the food pellet. When the rat has pushed the lever many eons it leave behind learn that this behaviour, button the lever, is followed by the release of the food pellet, the consequence. As the rat would deal to oblige to a greater extent food the pellet is experienced as reinforcing and this increases the chance of the behaviour beingness telled. Skinner also investigated proscribe funding by running a very small electric underway on the floor of the box containing the rat and if the rat pushed the lever because the current would be turned off. This action was negative reinforcement. An example of this is winning a painkiller to relieve the symptoms of a business w hich results in the headache going away consequently you have been negatively reinforced for pickings a painkiller. Skinner also investigated that punishment happens when behaviour is followed by a consequence which is an unpleasant experience. He did this by having a box where the rat received a small electric shock when it pushed the lever. The consequence of pushing the lever was unpleasant, an electric shock, so the rat learned not to push the lever. The principles of operant conditioning can be used to create more armed serviceful behaviours and remove theun stand byful unrivaleds. The principles of reinforcement and punishment are a very powerful way to alter a persons behaviour. This process is sometimes cognise as behaviour modification. My father uses this approach daily at work as he is a elderly prison officer at HMP Wayland to maintain order within the government activity and my mother uses the same root words, for schoolroom management at Wayland Academy, on a da ily basis. In both situations, good behaviour is rewarded and poor behaviour is punished but in very different ways. At Wayland Academy, where I have completed my first work placement, there is a behaviour insurance policy called the violent Card Procedure and it is used in all schoolroom throughout the school. The policy is a four stage policy designed to promote good classroom behaviour and pupils receive consequences for behaviour that disrupts the learning of other learners. The procedure is stones throw 1 Consequence 1 (C1) The bookman receives a 10 exquisite storage area for a first occurrence of any behaviour that disrupts others learning. This behaviour can include work out, unnecessarily demanding the teachers time and using foul language. Step 2 Consequence 2 (C2) The student receives a 10 minute detention for a indorsement occurrence of any behaviour that disrupts others learning. This gist that the student now has a total of 20 minutes detention with the c lass teacher. Step 3 Consequence 3 (Time out) After the threesome occurrence of disruptive behaviour the student is sent outside the classroom and the teacher goes out and speaks to them privately explaining that they have reached their final chance of be in the lesson. If their behaviour is not improved later on this they will be outback(a) from the remainder of the lesson and have a 60 minute after school detention the following week. Step 4 Consequence 4 (Red Card) If another example of disruptive behaviour now happens the student is removed from the remainder of the lesson and receives a 60 minute after school detention. The Red Card Procedure works on the same basis as Skinners system that punishment occurs when behaviour is followed by a consequence that is unpleasant. If the student demonstrates disruptive behaviour indeed they are punished by the removal of their vacate time, in the machinate of detention, and it is hoped that this punishment will teach the stude nt to stop the disruptive behaviour. Aldworth, C. Billingham, M. Lawrence, P. Moonie, N. and Whitehouse, M (2010) Health and fond Care level 3 Book 1 BTEC NationalHarlow Pearson study Limited Pages 339-340 The second approach that I am going to link to a social care situation is the cognitive perspective where psychologists believe the brain was like a computer system and much work has gone in to dateing the cognitive processes of attention, memory, perception, information processing, thought, puzzle solving and language. adept of the two main psychologists within this approach, that I am going to talk just about, is George Kelly. He developed a very unique psychological theory knget as the Psychology of Personal Construct where he saw the separate as a experimenter, making their predictions about the future, testing them and if they need to they revision them according to new evidence. For example if an individual becomes deaf in their sum age then it might be likely tha t they withdraw from nightspot and become isolated. On the other hand if they interpret it as a challenge then they whitethorn gauge and find new and kindle ways to work around the deafness and continue with a fulfilling life. Individuals with learning difficulties may experience frustration within their daily lives as they try out to make sense of confusing experiences. The cognitive approach can help individuals with learning difficulties in misunderstood situations, by identifying irrational thoughts, an individual can be a guide to change them, with consequent benefits on their emotions and behaviour. This work can improve an individuals self-esteem and reduce outbursts which may be caused by a lack of taste of the requirements that are necessary for a situation. While I was on placement at Wayland Academy, I worked with the Year 7 Gold Group, which is a invoke group. The individuals in this nurture group all have certain learning difficulties .The group is peculiar(a) t o a maximum of 15 students so the staff have nice time within a lesson to go around and help everyone understand the lesson objectives and stop them from becoming frustrated. For example, one of the students within the classroom has Aspergers Syndrome which is a form of autism but it differs from other conditions on the autism spectrum by its relative preservation of lingual and cognitive development. The teacher and classroom assistant have certain strategies to stop this student to access learning. While they are sitting and working with him they are continually refocusing his attention on to the required task, and this may involve moving the work into his eyeline if he has become distracted. Another strategy is to repeat and reword the giventask until the student has understood fully. The teacher and the classroom assistant knows when the student has understood because when he has understood he responds to them in full sentences and when he is still struggling he only gives one word answers. Aldworth, C. Billingham, M. Lawrence, P. Moonie, N. and Whitehouse, M (2010) Health and Social Care Level 3 Book 1 BTEC National Harlow Pearson Education Limited Pages 350-351 and 359-361 http//www.patient.co.uk/doctor/Aspergers-Syndrome.htm forthwith I am going to move on and look at health care situations and the first psychological approach I am going to look at is the humanistic perspective. Humanistic psychology looks at the human experience from an individuals viewpoint and uses the idea of free will and that everyone is free to make choices. One of the two psychologists I am going to talk about is Carl Rodgers and was very interested in the totally idea concept of self. Self-concept looks at the way each individual views themselves, this includes biologic and physical attributes. Self-concept is noticed at a young age, when minorren internalise other individuals judgements about them and think it is true. For example if a child gets called naughty or silly throughout their childhood then their self-concept will contain these aspects and possibly shape their future in a negative way. On the other hand if a child is praised and encouraged to postdate then they will have a positive self-concept and will try better at what they do because they start to see themselves as worthwhile.Carl Rodgers is famous for forming a particular(a) type of counselling which is based on vested positive regard from the counsellor, to try and help the patient gain a more positive sense of self. Unconditional positive regard refers to the idea that the counsellor supports and validates the individuals experiences, tintings, beliefs and emotions unconditionally, whether good or bad. Over time this helps the patient accept themselves and think more positively about who they are. One of the features of this approach to circumstances others is to develop empathy. Empathy is the opposite of sympathy where you would feel grimy for an individual empathy us to r eally listen to the individual and be in tune with their emotions, and respect them for who they are This is not always easy to do because as we may not understand why the individual feels so bad about themselves about an issue we may be up to(p) to easily discharge.Nevertheless, if we try to respect the individual we maybe working with then we might start to understand the importance to them and we can become scalelike to displaying empathy. True empathy requires us to move aside all judgements we may have and as the saying goes Put ourselves in their shoes. Like empathy, understanding is of critical importance when applying this perspective to health care practices. Rodgers frequently referred to more then just understanding at an intellectual level he talks about empathetic understanding which means using your own emotions and sensitivity to become a more rough-and-ready person to help any individual. A lot of the time many people part with their own personal experiences and personal judgements get in the way of helping the individual by saying Well, thats not a problem they should just pull themselves together I have dealt with worse myself. This can turn into a major barrier between patient and counsellor, or else of creating a barrier counsellors use recyclable questions like How does that make you feel? Can you identify what you are afraid of?Could you tell me a olive-sized bit more about that? That seemed to upset you?All of these questions enable the individual to break down the problem without realising it so it helps the counsellor what to say and what to kick up for the next step. It has been shown , by a recent study in the daybook of Consulting and Clinical, that cognitive behaviour therapy for adherence and depression can be effective for decreasing depression and increasing adherence to medication in HIV-infected do drugs users. The intervention group received 9 treatment sessions over a period of 3 months, involving informational, prob lem-solving, and cognitive behavioral steps. At each step, the participants and the therapist collaboratively defined the problem, generated alternative solutions, made decisions about the solutions, and developed a computer program for implementing them. At post-treatment, the intervention group showed significant improvements and showed a significant lessening in symptoms of depression. Depression and substance abuse are the most comorbid disorders associated with HIV-infection, and it is suggested that in time a small change in adherence can result in improved outcomes for HIV patients. The results of this study suggest that theintegration of cognitive behavior therapy into substance abuse counseling may be useful for decreasing depression and improving adherence to medication (with continued sessions) in HIV-infected patients with a history of injection drug use. Aldworth, C. Billingham, M. Lawrence, P. Moonie, N. and Whitehouse, M (2010) Health and Social Care Level 3 Book 1 BTEC National Harlow Pearson Education Limited Pages 348, 349 and 357 http//www.beckinstituteblog.org/2013/03/cbt-is-effective-for-adherence-and-depression-in-hiv-infected-injection-drug-users/ The second approach I am going to talk over in relation to a health care situation is the social learning perspective. The social learning perspective is where influences happen on our behaviour from the environment around us, for example from peers, siblings, parents, sports personalities, television and other celebrities.According to this theory post models have a huge impact on an individuals life. While we may learn our behaviour from observing another person behave and imitating what they do, behaviour is strongly influenced by the way we recognize the role model performing the behaviour. Albert Bandura was one of the theorists within the social learning approach and he developed observational learning, which is learning behaviour from reflection and observing others such as televisi on personalities. The individual we learn from, cognise as the role model, and the process of imitating their behaviour is called modelling. However we do not imitate all behaviour we have spyd, because it is in our interests to imitate particular behaviour influenced by the actions of the role model. If we see our role model being punished and we do not like the way they have been punished then we as individuals are less likely to repeat that behaviour, on the other hand if they have been positively reinforced and the individual sees that then they are more likely to repeat that behaviour. As above role models play a huge part in influencing behaviour of those who observe them. For example Jamie Oliver the celebrity chef has had a huge impact on pristine schools around the UK, with his School Dinners Project he has managed to get local authorities to re-introduce freshly cooked meals rather than pre-cooked because they are far healthier for the human body providing the correct nu trients for a childs needs. He has also, through his Food Foundation created the Kitchen Garden Project which educates primary school children about the joys of growing and cooking from scratch.
Teaching in Urban Districts
The main form of interaction that goes on in aims is amidst the instructors and the students. Some of the students argon tricky or unruly and they present umpteen difficulties for the teachers as the teachers cannot consequently organize the class and provide the level of feeling education that they argon capable of. Disruptive students require more c be from teachers and this stops teachers from giving adequate attention to the rest of the class. at that place are umpteen behavioral problems with students, but on that point is no method of dealing with such students in United States.Even the solution that can be achieved through disciplinary action has to be determined by the topical anesthetic instillness board, and then those decisions go awaying invite to be implemented by the teachers and the principal. One of the methods through which this can be done is the student put up handbook which is distributed to the students for giving to parents. This may give detai ls of actions that would be requestn by the teachers and the principal of the crop day, if the student does not live up to the expectations of the nurture and in the class.Other naturalises regular(a) give full details of the penalty that the student may be effrontery when there is any usurpation by the student of the rules of the educate. (Teachers Relationships) At the same time, both penalizations that are given are felt to be the responsibility of the teacher, by the student and the families of the students. This brings us to the next level as we live with to determine the type of punishment that can be given to the students. The limits of this range from verbal warnings to in-school suspensions, and when the student crosses limits of behavior, then the general recomm lastation is an out of school suspension. At the same time, near students are repeat offenders, and their punishment increases with the return of times they project ca apply an offense. The corpse of punishing students and still retaining them in the same school has now been questioned by or so educationists, who thrust suggested that alternative schools be set up for them. This volition permit the ordinary schools on didactics of students who grow a kitty of desire to learn. Anformer(a) group has suggested that punishments start earlier, from primary school, and the punishments should be minute with a decease system. The problem is that the parents are not aware of all these systems of the school, as they entirely go through the written material that they attain from schools and even that in a cursory manner. These do not bind them respond and thus the parents point of go steady remains unknown. The parents meet and slop to the school authorities just now during formal occasions wish school open houses and teacher conferences, and at these occasions, most participants are reserved. It is realizable for both teachers and parents to set up other meetings, but t hat action is taken wholly when the concerned student has problems regarding progress.Even during the branch of their training, teachers do not contract much training regarding interaction with parents. As is well known, training for comme il faut teachers takes place in colleges of education based in universities. The individuals who want to make up teachers join up courses for both academic learning as in addition for courses in education. The combination is expected to teach them both the methods of teaching as also the contents that they desire to teach the students. On joining up for the first time, the students are expected to undergo a period of teaching students. in that respect are some individuals who feel that a teacher who is still in the learning process should be left alone with students, others take the view that it may be expose if they are back up by an experienced teacher during the first few weeks of teaching that they undertake. (Teachers Relationships) (1) The teacher also faces different challenges and those depend on the environment where they start teaching. Schools in urban areas are not individual schools, but are part of a large bureaucracy that is not able to act fast in response to the needs of the schools. These schools generally do not have many a(prenominal) resources, and even the buildings are in unworthy condition in many cases. From outside the school, the environment in spite of appearance the school may be abnormal by gang activity, drug availability and usage on a large scale and there being a escape of union structure. Students who are coming to the school are burdened not only with educational requirements, but also carry the burden of p all overty, hunger and poor lodgment. at that place is a feeling among the parents, teachers, principals and students that the school they are concerned with is something extra and separate. This can be said to be the tone, climate or ethos of the school, and those fro nt to be related to all activities that are connected with the school. (NCREL Monograph make collaborative Cultures) This is a unique quality, a special school horticulture. This has an effect on the way they act, on how they dress, or even what they are continuously lecture about or what they give never talk of. It also determines whether they look to help from others or they do not seek help. This culture of the school is built up of different norms, values, beliefs and assumptions and rituals. These are built up over time as teachers, students, parents and administrators have worked to popher, or dealt with crises and developed their own unuttered expectations for interactions and methods of working together. On the other side there are some schools which remain as isolated places for working and there the teachers are left alone. They work alone in their rooms, and have little interaction with their colleagues. They go for the problems that they face to themselves. When one sees these schools, the teachers are islands they feel a gulf of insulation from each other, seldom talk to other teachers, or share their points of view in terms of the profession or even solving their problems. (NCREL Monograph Building Collaborative Cultures) The urban governs have schools which have had a much nightlong period of development than brisk schools which have come up in the suburban areas. This makes their pagan feature much more rigid, and any teacher has to adapt to them. After their graduation from college and getting the necessary qualifications required to call on a teacher, most of the teachers still end up working in isolation. The teachers do not get comely time to work along with other teachers, and this is happening even now when there are a quid of efforts being made to get greater affaire of the teachers. There are new efforts to improve the general quality of individuals who join as teachers. The effort is through a compulsory renewal of certi ficates needed for teaching, creating programs where the teachers will all have mentors and general cash advance of their salaries and working conditions. The process of improvement and this is through decisions taken at the school itself. It becomes the responsibility of the teachers in the schools to have a plan for improvement of the school. That will set up objectives for the school and give the teachers a greater study in the methods of running the school. It is possible to have new methods of instruction like teaching in teams, reconciling learning and individualized instruction through the use of computers. There are also other ways through which the performance of teachers can be evaluated. The implementation of these methods encourages the teachers to help their students achieve new state level standards that have been set up. (Teachers Relationships) It is clear that schools where there is not enough satisfaction for the teachers will ultimately result in their leaving th e school. It is not correct to think that low incentives are the main case for their departure. In the city schools the teachers end up getting a salary less than they get in the schools of the suburbs, but that is not the main reason why they leave the school. There are many teachers who leave the school as they feel that they have not been getting enough hold back from the school administration. Within the school there are many intrusions during the time given for teaching in the class, there are a lot of problems of discipline of the students, and the teachers do not get a posit as to how the school will be run. (Why Do High-Poverty Schools Have Difficulty Staffing Their Classrooms with fitted Teachers? ) The degree of autonomy that is operable to teachers in schools varies to a large extent. There are schools where the teachers have had the great section in development of the curricula and also helped the new teachers understand the curricula. On the other side, there are many schools where the teachers had to work with books that had been purchased and teach from them. There are a lot of differences within the teachers themselves which make the entire process even more difficult. A team of teachers from one district selected new mathematics and apprehension curricula, but other teachers found that this curriculum of science was too difficult for the students.Teachers in another school were given a time of half a day for setting out the commemorate level objectives, but the teachers found the time to be too short-change and this was done only once. The teachers were not able to make plans that satisfied their desires. The interest group and satisfaction is different from school to school. The only matter that teachers seem to sum up on is regarding their opinion of conditions which are suitable for teaching. The teachers are in respect of more flexible schedules, increase in resources for teaching and more aid for teachers. There was also a dif ference in answerability and teachers in low income areas are generally ones to face the greatest demand for accountability and the greatest challenges. Certainly the level demanded from them was loftyer than was demanded from teachers in middle and juicy income areas. (2) We are facing a failure to ensure that classrooms in the sphere are filled with quality teachers, and this is more acute as the note is the worst in disadvantaged schools. In general people say that the lack of teachers is the reason for this shortage. Why Do High-Poverty Schools Have Difficulty Staffing Their Classrooms with competent Teachers? ) The reasons for this shortage are ascribed to recent retirements of a large number of teachers and also due to a large increase in enrolment of students. This makes it even more difficult for schools in poor districts to get an adequate number of trained teachers. These school districts are in the urban areas and as a result of this shortage, these schools end up wit h a large number of under- qualify teachers. This lack of sufficient teachers is felt to be the main reason for the lack of suitable education and building of careers of the students from these schools, and these students are in general from poor communities. in all these factors are known to the authorities and they have tried to respond by the confer of an increase in the number of teachers to these schools. This has resulted in a lot of efforts to recruit new teachers in these schools, during the recent years. The greatest stress is on schools which are in disadvantaged settings. On further analysis of the data, it is seen that the staffing problems in these schools is not due to a lack of teachers, and what one is trying to say is that they are not suffering from a lack of adequately subordinate teachers. The data clearly shows that the problems in staffing of the schools come from a revolving door that exists in these schools. This elbow room that teachers join and then lea ve these schools within a short period, and the reason for their leaving the school is not retirement. The data shows that public schools in advanced poverty area, in urban communities leave about a one-fifth of their teachers e precise year Why Do High-Poverty Schools Have Difficulty Staffing Their Classrooms with Qualified Teachers? ) These results show that the entire staff of the school could be lost within a very short period. The reason for the departure of these teachers is also in part due to the lack of involvement of the parents in the teaching process. close to of the residents in these areas are African American and Latino. The parents from these groups feel that the faculty in the local elementary school is biased against them. This is the reason that the parents state as being the cause for their non-participation in the school activities. Why urban Parents reject Involvement in their Childrens Elementary Education) The parents clearly mention that they would work on ly with teachers who respect and value their children. This causes great difficulty for experienced teachers as they are aware of the value of the participation by parents. Help from the parents was thought to be essential for good education, and this was taken for granted by teachers. Teachers felt parents supported their efforts and expectations for education of children.Today the situation in the cities has changed due to different family sight and socio-cultural differences between the teachers and the students with their families. The differences between them arise as the students and their families suffer from poverty, racism, language and cultural differences. The parents feel that the system has been prepared for the education of children from middle class and exsanguinous families. This is bound to happen as the family has to feel that they have an important role in the education of their children. When the parents are from the middle class, then the parents feel that they have a duty in assisting the school for education of their children. On the other hand when the family is from the low income group, then the parents feel that it is the responsibility of the school to educate children. The thoughts of the parents regarding their own responsibility also make the parents visit the school and go in in all activities of the school. Of course to an extent, it also depends on the attitude of the school and some schools make the parents feel comfortable and at home in the school.Teachers in the urban centers often are not aware of the ethnicities and culture of the students they teach, and they have to learn this to be able to reverse the resistance of the family to involvement with school education. In many cities there have been changes over the years. many of the cities were dominated by industry earlier, but due to development, the industries are no longer functioning from those cities. With the close of the factories, there were closure of supporti ng activities like restaurants and department stores. The population of the cities also declined from 100,000 earlier to about 60,000 now.Why urban Parents Resist Involvement in their Childrens Elementary Education) While the population has dropped, there was a growth in different races in the city African American and Latinos. The main school is located where the rectifytown area used to be. Within a range of one block are high rise public housing buildings which are home to four one C families. Ninety-five percent of the children living there are from the two communities mentioned earlier. This means that the school will have to interact with these communities. The change in situation had led the city school district to have total integration of its elementary schools. thence the elementary school serving the public housing building has now got all low-income and colored children. As a solution, the district had to send the children on a bus to the affluent elementary school si tuated on the hill which has a middle class neighborhood. (Why Urban Parents Resist Involvement in their Childrens Elementary Education) The school may have better facilities, but will the parents like it? The number of teachers from the minorities is falling. In 1974, 12. 5% of all full time teachers were African American, and today the number is down to 11 percent. This makes it possible that some students complete school without coming in touch with a minority community teacher. The minorities certainly have better career choices now, but even in teaching they feel that get low salaries and occupational prestige. (Increasing Minority Participation in the Teaching Profession) Thus teaching as a profession is not being liked. (3) It is clear that teaching in urban areas is not liked as it considered difficult to teach there. The schools have wide racial diversity among the students, little supply of materials required to teach, high demands from the bureaucrats that have to be met, l ow involvement of the parents in the school, and finally, low salaries. These are the reasons why suburban schools find it easier to get teachers as they are able to provide more resources, greater flexibility in the areas of teaching, and finally, better pay. (Teachers Relationships) The solution to the problem is not that city schools recruit more teachers, which they have to do as they do not have enough teachers now. They have to find ways and means to stop the teachers from leaving the profession. It is very important that the teachers ability to employ positive behavior intervention and support in the classroom is taken up. When the teacher has defects in terms of skills, the results will appear in the poor results from students who are concerned with the teacher. (Strengthening Emotional carry Services) The schools have to make sure that all students are taught by qualified teachers and this is what makes them worry about retaining the teachers on their roles.
